About Me

Hi There!

I'M Robert J. Lloyd

I started as an artist and a craftsman at a young age. In school I always took art classes and was voted Most Talented by my senior class. 

I entered the mechanical drafting program and later the graphic design program at Sawyer College in Ventura after 1990. We used PCs and Mac systems, and I bought my first Apple computer and worked as a draftsman, graphic artist, illustrator and computer tech with my company Lahaina Computer.

I now have more time to devote to painting and drawing, as I have always envisioned for my life. In the new Art Studio, I create detailed works in watercolors, oils, pen & ink, pencil drawings and a little stone sculpture. I enjoy working on detailed ink drawings with watercolor washes. I experiment with digital composite imagery. 

With this new website I can organize all of my efforts, and share new and old artwork in a  way that makes it easier for friends to see my work. The pieces will have stories to explain their inspiration and history, developing as time goes on.

I am inspired by the art of Paul Gauguin, Maxfield Parrish, Grant Pecoff, Frank Frazetta, and many more.

Techniques

The fine quill nib pen is my old friend. I love detailed work in pen & ink, and I am getting to be pretty good with detailed portraits and now landscapes,
